My “First Teachers Series” is a collection of lessons learned from critical experiences throughout my life. I intend to educate, empower, and inspire others to become a student in their life. Students learn and don’t focus on the errors but the treasures of their experiences. Students realize that no experience defines them and that each experience helps them to with the next ones.

I am currently looking for representation to help share messages of faith, healing, and purpose. Through the great commission, I help people “Remember Who They Are.”

Book 1: Compass: Out Of The Wilderness Into The Wonderful Light

This self-help memoir with a spiritual bent is about one woman’s journey of returning to her Truth after experiencing childhood sexual abuse. My journey encompasses faith after trauma, reuniting with purpose, and achieving and sustaining optimal health. The takeaway message is healing from child sexual abuse is necessary, possible, and a process. My manuscript is complete and is approximately 79,000 words.

“and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me” (Psalm 50:15)

Background: Around five years old, two family members led me into the dark wilderness of sexual abuse, one by force and the other with kindness and games. After the secret was out, one of the male family members denied his involvement, and I was called a liar. At the crossroads of anger, disappointment, and shame, I called out to nature for help by saying, “I want to be aligned with nature.”

A series of events took place. Here are some of the things I used to create my healing path from childhood sexual abuse. 1. I read the entire King James Bible. 2. I resonated with the portrayal of Jesus. 3. I learned the Lord’s prayer. 4. I spent time sitting on the porch admiring the strength of trees and enjoying nature. 5. I dismantled myths (weeds) planted healthy seeds (affirmations) in my garden. 6. I realized that life was about character building. 7. I adopted my mother’s life principles. 8. I sought God’s divine messages in my experiences 9. I listened more to the Voice within. 10. I chose to learn from life instead of becoming a victim of life. 11. I entered a path (nursing) that taught me about self-actualization, conditioning, and how others used trauma and mishaps to unleash their purpose in life.

At a young age, I knew my life did not end with abuse. My spiritual awakening had just begun. I have accomplished many of my childhood dreams and look forward to the next chapters of my life.

Book 2: A Father To The Fatherless: What I Learned From Your Presence

This self-help memoir with a spiritual bent is about a girl who sought a relationship with her heavenly Father in her biological father’s absence. The takeaway message is that you can still thrive in the absence of a parent when you seek your Creator’s heart.

“A Father of the fatherless, a defender of widows is God in his holy habitation” (Psalm 68:5).

In this memoir, I share how I learned to rely on God more during my biological father’s.

Background: With $4000, two suitcases, and three children under 5, our mother left our father. As a child, I remember wondering if life would have been better if our father had effectively addressed his issues. It did not take long for me to dismiss this thought because my father was addicted to alcohol. For approximately, four and a half years, he emotionally and physically abused our mother.

I know that God carried my family through some storms. By the grace of God, we never went without our basic needs met. One of the things I am very grateful for is that my mother’s teachings of life principles were unopposed by my father-something she experienced in the five years she was with him.

In my 30’s I joined a fatherless daughter group because I wanted to help those who grew up without a father, but left the group after several months. One of the reasons I left the group was because I realized that I did have a father. God was there when my biological father could not be. I didn’t want to focus on what I did not have, but what I did have.

No longer do I hold anger towards my father. On the contrary, I feel compassion towards him now. He missed out on seeing three beautiful children grow up, and unfortunately, his absence continues in the lives of his grandchildren.

The one major lesson I learned from growing up without my biological father is the importance of addressing my hurts so that love does not have to hurt the next generation. My current manuscript is 59,345.

Book: 3 Parenting With Principles, Purpose, and Vision

In this self-help memoir with a spiritual bent, I share how I use my mother’s words of wisdom in raising principled, purposeful, visionaries.

Background: My mother’s life principles have helped me transcend many of my life experiences and draw nearer to God. The takeaway message is living by principles doesn’t limit you but can help you create a legacy from the inside out.

Since my teenage years, I wanted a boy and a girl, preferably twins. For years, I did not know that I could get pregnant after experiencing sexual abuse and years of birth control usage. In 2010, I miscarried. I did not even know I was pregnant. I blamed no one for I believed, “and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

I took my loss and turned it into unwavering determination & perseverance to have the family I longed for. Instead of fearing what the world could do to my children, I am determined to raise children who will make a positive dent in the world.

“Children are an inheritance from the LORD, offspring a reward from him” ( Psalm 127: 3).

Eleven years later, I have a healthy 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl (going on 8). Motherhood is another experience to bring out the best in us.

Book #4 Jesus: The Ultimate Role Model

This self-help memoir with a spiritual bent is about what I learned from Jesus. The take-away message is that you don’t have to be religious to incorporate the characteristics of Jesus.

Background: At an early age, I started watching the televised portrayal of Jesus Christ. I saw authority in action, compassion, confidence, conviction to His truth, wrapped in humility. Jesus healed, fed the hungry, and taught from the heart. Aligned with our Father, nothing was impossible for Him.

After experiencing sexual abuse, I wanted to avoid going through something like that again. Jesus set the standard for who I wanted to be.

I realized that all of the characteristics that Jesus embodies are within me. My superpowers are compassion, faith, hope, love, peace, truth, and understanding. All superheroes go through a unique journey. Everything prepares them for their next battle.

Book #4: Thoughts As A Child: Back To Basics

This self-help memoir with a spiritual bent is about a woman’s journey to remember her truths as a child. The takeaway message is to hold unto your Truths by honoring the child within you..

“Truly I tell you unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3)

I believe children are closer to the Truth, and our perspective on life experiences either draws us nearer to the Truth or farther away.

Background: I continue to experience growth opportunities. Many of my experiences were less of a struggle because of my student approach to life. I believed in God and that everything worked together for good (Romans 8:28). Some days were better than others. I do not know where I would be without my faith in God, my mother’s teachings, and keen observations about life. Living by principles has helped me to veer away from potentially harmful circumstances. Learning from others has played a crucial role in veering away from substance abuse.

Some of my experiences include:

  1. growing up without my biological father,
  2. experiencing sexual abuse,
  3. a miscarriage,
  4. finding my purpose in life,
  5. fired for the first time from a job,
  6. staying at home during a pandemic (coronavirus),
  7. homeschooling our children,
  8. prejudice,.
  9. fears and self-doubt, and others.

Life is about building character. We incur tests to help bring out the best in us. I often prayed for God’s help to pass my life’s tests.

I can only imagine what my life would be like without life principles to lean back on. Sometimes, we have to go back to the simplicity of Truth to gain the necessary perspective that is void of attack and more of compassion, love, peace, and understanding.

Book 5: ReSurface My Purpose

This self-help memoir with a spiritual bent is about one woman’s journey of doing the work God created her to do. Life has been my greatest teacher in showing me what I am here to do. It’s not too late to do the work God created you to do; even perceived detours can lead you back to your Truth.

Background: After experiencing child sexual abuse, I wondered what I was here to do. When I heard my mother’s unsuccessful story to become a nurse, I set my navigation to achieve her dream. Over 20 years ago, I lived my mother’s dream of becoming a nurse.

In 2018, while I stood in the kitchen, I asked God how will I make my mark. A still small voice replied, “Writing.” I stood shocked, hoping to hear something else. Then in January 2019, my family and I moved to the West Coast (my husband accepted a job in Oregon). We purchased our house approximately eight months before the coronavirus storm. The storm allowed me to pursue my writings. As a result, I feel closer to who God created me to be.

Book 6: What It Means To Be Your Wife

In this memoir, I examine Bible Scripture to unveil my role as a helper to my husband. Often, the woman is seen as the keeper of children, but I believe wives have a divine purpose that encompasses their role as a mother.

“It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:18

Book #7 Nursing: One of My Greatest Teachers

In this empowering memoir, Timika shares what an initially perceived detour in nursing ended up being one of her greatest teachers. Timika encourages the reader to understand that even perceived detours teach us. Once we understand that every path meet us where we are, there are no detours, because all paths lead us to Home.

And then some,

  1. Feature Films dealing unveiling and providing solutions to the generational cycle of pain.
  2. Memoirs
  3. Autobiographies-Prominent positioned-person and my mother.
  4. Poems
  5. Children Books
