My Health, My Temple: Breaking The Standard American Way

After my second child, I had gained over 50 pounds. I knew that I could not use my pregnancy as an excuse. I also knew that the more weight I gained, the harder it would be for me to lose the weight and the more strain I’d put on my organs.

I realized that there are no diets, but the way to sustained health and weight starts within my mind. I had to let go of some potentially harmful thoughts such as being able to eat whatever I wanted and just “work it off.”

Although I aim to eat several servings of fruits and vegetables daily, I still enjoy some of my favorite foods in moderation.

Taking care of my temple is more than just eating right. I have learned the importance of my mental and spiritual well-being. Unless my thoughts are of health, my actions will not be. I believe that my body is the vehicle for my divine message. Every part of me was handcrafted to perfection to fulfill my purpose.

Many people can tell us how to take care of our body, but I am with my body 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. My body and mind speak to me, and it is up to me to listen.

Make this lifetime great!
