Help Break the Diabetes Cycle

Hi there,

One of my foundational principles is to help others maintain optimal health. Check out my most recent blog on Diathrive and learn tips on turning a diabetes diagnosis into teachable moments and help break the diabetes cycle.

When you model and share health information with future generations, you can help them avoid or delay experiencing a diabetes or prediabetes diagnosis. Here are 5 ways to help break the cycle.

When I started as a diabetes educator in 2001, approximately 17 million people had a diabetes diagnosis. At the time, there wasn’t much, if any, talk or statistics gathering about prediabetes. However, over the years, diabetes diagnoses have steadily increased despite medical advances and education, and so has the number of individuals at risk for diabetes and prediabetes. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), approximately 37.3 million people have diabetes in the United States. Of the 37.3 million people, 28.7 million have a diabetes diagnosis, and 8.5 million people don’t know they have it. In addition, over 96 million people 18 years and older have prediabetes. Let the Holidays Be Opportunities for You to Heal

Hi there!

Healing from the inside involves seeing opportunities instead of challenges. For example, a scary dream is an opportunity to assess your fears. Episodes of anger are opportunities to assess your boundaries. Just because you feel something doesn’t mean you have to become it. No one takes your curiosity, desire to live and fulfill your purpose, and joy away unless you choose to.

You have the power to make this lifetime great. Our lives change after our thoughts about life change. Emotions are data, and you choose how you want to use them. You have the right to heal, set boundaries, and experience freedom during the holidays. We cannot change the past, but we can change how we interpret the past.

Listen to this week’s Create A Generational Cycle episode and let me know your thoughts.
