Listen to the message instead of judging the messenger

Someone shared on Facebook how she received an important message from someone she did not think she would. Thank you…You know who you are.

This message she shared on Facebook brought back some memories of how all of a sudden I would be with someone, not looking for a message, and that person shared some knowledge with me that made whatever I was going through so clear or even gave me an answer to something that was puzzling me. I have thought on several occasions that “this person must be heaven-sent.” Evidently, I judged this person or else I would not have been surprised, knowing deep within that God will use anyone to relay a message. If I do not pay attention, I could miss out.

One still has to be somewhat cautious;however, one should not just think because this person:
1. is in a lower or higher socioeconomic class than I
2. has no high school degree or even a college degree
3. grew up in the south or in the “hood”
4. is younger than I, even a child
5. is older than I and not “up-to-date”
6. has not been through what I have been through
7. has been in jail, mental institute, or rehab
8. is from a different background whether race, religion, ethnic group
9. is blind, cannot speak or hear
10. is an alcoholic

Or any others, that I cannot learn from them.
Listen and learn from those that God chooses to teach you, not the ones you want to teach you….Wow!
I would always say listen to the message instead judging the messenger. It is one thing to say it and intellectually know it…It is another to be about it. Teach me!

Can we change someone’s destiny including our own?

Or, are our actions or inaction part of a predetermined fate? Or do we just mind our own business and let things be what they are especially if individuals are resistant to change and say “it is going to happen anyway?” Why try so hard to help others? Others may ask what is the point? Can we change:

1. A person from having a massive stroke by following our intuition to call a person in which the conversation may have gone into detail about the symptoms the person may have been having? Have you ever gotten a feeling to call someone, but decided not to and made excuses why you should not?
2. A person from being diagnosed with diabetes by encouraging and informing he or she of healthy eating habits by being honest with him or her of known risk factors such as family history, inactivity, and obesity? Or do we just lie to the person, because we do not want to hurt their feelings?
3. A person from losing a limb because his or her blood sugars are out of control, and the signs are there…blackened toes, loss of circulation…etc.
4. A person from joining a gang and getting killed one day by another gang
5. A house from burning down due to electricity issues, and you knew that something was not right.
6. A person from selling drugs and eventually being severely hurt, killed, or jailed because you had a dream or even this gut feeling that eventually this was going to happen?
7. A person from having a severe asthma attack and dying in his or her house because we know without the proper equipment, how can he or she properly take care of themselves or that we lack protocols in place to make sure they get the proper teaching?
8. A person from committing suicide as we watch them get bullied by someone else because we are afraid…afraid of retaliation, looking uncool, or others?
9. A person from picking up our bad traits (familial traits) because it just runs in the family and “it is in your blood.” In your gut, you know it is wrong, but so what….Misery likes company, right?

We are all in this journey together. Is it the distractions..pride, jealousy, prejudices, hate, fear, anger, becoming defensive, that can lead us off the wrong path and continue to separate this human race? This intuition or gut feeling is our connection to something bigger…whether you call it God, Universe, Muhammad, or something else. Instead of focusing on something different in all of us, or that I will only focus on my life, focus on our similarities which is the connection to something bigger.

I am just asking……..
Until next time

Live the life that pleases you and not another

We all have to live our own life and hopes are that we live our life responsibly meaning that what you do not only affects you, but can have a direct and/or indirect affect on others. It could be drinking and driving (we have probably all heard of everyone else but the driver being critically injured or dying), cursing in front of your children who later learn that cursing is a healthy way to relieve emotions (including nurses who curse in front of their patients…I have heard and seen it), or calling someone outside his or her name demeaning another individual in front of others or in private (I have a name for a reason…use it). Children quickly pick up on these habits and more…they tend to idolize their parents because we are who they mainly hear and see. They look to us to teach them the right way. so we are not shocked when they curse their teacher out or police..or even judge…

It is out of our control to please others with our life. I am not here to please someone else. I am here for my own journey. I have seen where pleasing others causes personal and professional setbacks, lots of money being spent, plastic surgeries, etc.) Do know that if you are trying to please someone, do not be surprised if the things you do are never “good enough”. You may want to ask– why am I trying to please another person and is that person trying to live his or her life through you?

It is okay to take the advice of those you trust…However, do not let someone’s voice be louder than your own. What you do today, you cannot re-live tomorrow…only do better, hopefully.

Make today great!
