When we feel out of sorts,
When we just want to give up,
When we want to know the truth,
When we seek direction,
Make today great.
From the ground up, we choose how we want something to effect us. We choose if we want to be better and grow or if we want to be bitter and stagnate and possibly die as a result of our uncontrolled emotions and thoughts. We choose to live or slowly cause or own destruction. We choose to live and experience happiness or hold on to anger, frustration, guilt, sadness, or worry which can lead to overwhelming stress and possibly cause a heart attack, stroke, or a “rare” health condition. Your mind reacts and so does your body.
Is anyone or anything worth that pain and worth your life and right to live?
Within the past several months, my son has developed a fascination for dinosaurs. Cam gets so excited about dinosaurs, and his fav is T-rex. There is a video about dinosaurs on ABC mouse that he will watch and sing the dinosaur song several times before moving on to his lesson for the day. Of course, he has several dinosaur toys…
At story time this past Tuesday, Cam was so excited when he saw all of the dinosaur books. Of course, he knew all of the dinosaurs, and had plenty of questions about dinosaurs and their extinction for the librarian. And to add to his excitement, the librarian brought out dinosaur puppets at the end of story time, and oh boy, Cam’s hand was glued to the dinosaur puppet. There was a little girl who wanted to see the dinosaur puppet and came over to ask me because Cam was not sharing.
Cam has already started his Christmas list, and I am surprised he has not included dinosaurs on his list; however, he may get a little surprise in his stocking….hint…they roamed the earth millions of years ago.
As I was preparing my dinner plate this evening, I was thinking about how I was going to repond to today’s word of the day. I almost left the dinner table to go start typing my response to today’s blog, and then I realized, is anything really that urgent?
Is it really that urgent to wash the dishes or throw a load in the washing machine or dryer instead of sitting down to enjoy a meal with your family?
Is it really that urgent to make a phone call instead of reading a book to your children?
Is it really that urgent to get to where you are going and have total silence in the car instead of leaving early enough and being able to sing a song with your children ?
Is it really that urgent to finish a home or work project immediately instead of taking breaks to drink water or eat a meal, instead of checking your blood sugars, checking your blood pressure, checking your heart rate, exercising for 30 minutes, or putting your feet up as prescribed by your doctor to control swelling in your feet?
If we plan accordingly, prioritze efficiently, and act in accordance of being in the best possible health possible while living your dreams and accomplishing your goals, then is there really anything that urgent?
From my heart to yours,
What do we truly have to lose if we trust in these statements:
*You are not a mistake. You were born for reasons. Everyday you can be a positive influence to yourself and others.
*Your life experiences are not meant to break you; they are for your evolution.
*We have more things in common than we do different. The Human Anatomy is pretty much the same for all (except minor differences) and each organ performs a certain way (just like all hearts, the heart has a function of pumping blood to organs and tissues). There are no specific heart bypass procedures for a specific race or culture. When your heart stops beating, whether, black, white, or brown, it stops.
*Every person has a name and not the one you made up for them. The color of your skin, your spirituality or religion, your birthplace, your parents, your social status does not define you. You define yourself..
*Change begins with you.
*You have what you need to be who you are meant to be.
*You have the power to change what is not working in your life. Take time to reflect on what you want.
*Despite what has happened to others with similar health conditions (diabetes, heart disease, stroke) you play a role in being the healthiest you can be at any given time. Just because your grandmother had high blood pressure and died after having a stroke, does not mean that you will. You now have the knowledge to change what you need to change to have a different outcome.
*You are never alone. You will not be the first nor the last to go through what you are going through. Reach out to a trusted individual (mentor, parent, sister, brother, etc) as needed for additional support. Your life is worth it.
