Vegetal: One resource I use.

Oops! I thought I published this post last night!
Should every meal have vegetal quality?
There are no specific recommendations to include vegetables at every meal. However, including vegetables for every meal is not a bad idea, especially if you are less likely to eat vegetables later in the day. Remember that vegetables are low in calories, high in fiber, and have many nutrients that your body needs. Keep in mind that it takes your brain around 20 minutes to realize that you are full. Chew slowly to help reduce the amount of food you eat. The more vegetables you eat first, the less likely you will eat foods that are high in calories. Current recommendations regarding the amount of vegetables you should consume depends on your age, physical activity, and sex (https://www.choosemyplate.gov/vegetables).
If you would like to know more information about making healthier choices visit https://www.choosemyplate.gov/, a website by the United States Department of Agriculture. This site is user friendly, has information for individuals across the lifespan, and has many tools to use to help you develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Some of the tools include calculators, menus, videos, and ways to track your progress to healthy living.

Primp: inside and out
Posted on November 10, 2016 6 Comments
Depending on what I have planned for the day may decide how much I primp. I have felt for some time, though, that although it is good to look your best, outside appearance is not the whole package nor does it guarantee that the inside will be just as beautiful or handsome.
Just because someone looks good on the outside does not mean they are at peace on the inside, no matter how much you wish the latter to be true. So, when you look in the mirror and style your hair, wash your face, and add all your favorite accessories, does your positive self-talk go beyond “I am beautiful”, or “I am handsome.” What else do you tell yourself?
What about things such as:
1. I am enough just the way I am.
2. I deserve to be treated with respect, including being called by my name and nothing else. I have a right to say no when I am feeling violated by another.
3. I deserve to further my education, whether it be reading books on my specialty, completing a college degree or certificate.
4. I am worthy of great things.
5. I have interests that I would like to pursue and not just do whatever other people are doing.
6. I am …..whatever qualities you would like to have (calm, compassionate, honest, truthful).
Primping should be more than how you look on the outside. What about some “primping” on the inside, too?

Second Thoughts led me back to my first thought

How many times have you ever thought about which action to take the next day…you know….. how you wanted the next day to go, and when that day came, you had second thoughts and decided to do something else? Were you able to come back to your senses before it was too late and followed your first thought or plan of action?
Today went so much smoother because I decided against rushing to go to events. I picked one event to go to and took my time to get there. I spent a bit more time with TLC for me today instead of trying to get several activities done in a small window of time.
I am so glad I decided to clear my mind and think about what would be the best plan of action. My day went a lot smoother, and it was a true win-win for all. I kept my word to do something, my children learned some new information, and I learned about a new educational program geared towards helping children succeed in school. If I had chosen a different scenario, we may have missed the event and the information shared.
Some things I try to remember when making decisions are:
1. Mood-What mood am I in while trying to decide? I was acting like my old self trying to get so much done in a small window of time.
2. Information-How well informed am I about your choices? Do I have enought time to complete the activity?
3. Intention-Why do I want to do what I want to do? I have to remind myself that it is not about the number of activities I can complete; it’s about the quality of the experience. What promises have a I made to myself or others>
4. Resources-What resources do I have or need to help me make my decision.
5. End result- Am I aiming for a Win-win? Who will benefit from my decision/actions?
Having second thoughts led me back to my original thought.
