<a href="https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/urgent/">Urgent</a>

As I was preparing my dinner plate this evening, I was thinking about how I was going to repond to today’s word of the day.  I almost left the dinner table to go start typing my response to today’s blog, and then I realized, is anything really that urgent?

Is it really that urgent to wash the dishes or throw a load in the washing machine or dryer instead of sitting down to enjoy a meal with your family?

Is it really that urgent to make a phone call  instead of reading a book to your children?

Is it really that urgent to get to where you are going and have total silence in the car instead of leaving early enough and being able to sing a song with your children ?

Is it really that urgent to finish a home or work project immediately instead of taking breaks to drink water or eat a meal, instead of checking your blood sugars, checking your blood pressure, checking your heart rate, exercising for 30 minutes, or putting your feet up as prescribed by your doctor to control swelling in your feet?

If we plan accordingly, prioritze efficiently, and act in accordance of being in the best possible health possible while living your dreams and accomplishing your goals, then is there really anything that urgent?

From my heart to yours,

What do we truly have to lose if we trust in these statements:

*You are not a mistake.  You were born for reasons. Everyday you can be a positive influence to yourself and others.

*Your life experiences are not meant to break you; they are for your evolution.

*We have more things in common than we do different. The Human Anatomy is pretty much the same for all (except minor differences) and each organ performs a certain way (just like all hearts, the heart has a function of pumping blood to organs and tissues).   There are no specific heart bypass procedures for a specific race or culture.  When your heart stops beating, whether, black, white, or brown, it stops.

*Every person has a name and not the one you made up for them. The color of your skin, your spirituality or religion, your birthplace, your parents, your social status does not define you.  You define yourself..

*Change begins with you.

*You have what you need to be who you are meant to be.

*You have the power to change what is not working in your life.  Take time to reflect on what you want.

*Despite  what has happened to others with similar health conditions (diabetes, heart disease, stroke) you play a role in  being the healthiest you can be at any given time. Just because your grandmother had high blood pressure and died after having a stroke, does not mean that you will.  You now have the knowledge to change what you need to change to have a different outcome.

*You are never alone.  You will not be the first nor the last to go through what you are going through.  Reach out to a trusted individual (mentor, parent, sister, brother, etc) as needed for additional support.  Your life is worth it.

Subdued negative emotions and feelings have been shown to have a positive effect on our health.  Negative emotions/feelings not dealt with will leak out in your thoughts and actions at some point in your life, whether minutes, hours, days,  weeks, and/or years later.  When we do not address the root cause of our anger, jealousy, fear, bitterness, frustration, they can grow like weeds in our mind and body and spill off into our actions, whether consciously or unconsciously.  Our inability to self reflect, release, and  control our emotions can lead to violence such as bullying, domestic abuse, neglect, or even not taking care of ourselves the way we should.  .

I see negative emotions/feelings as negative energy that may cause our body to go haywire by interfering with the chemicals that are supposed to help our body stay in balance and by causing our body to produce toxins. These toxins may then cause our blood sugars to  rise or go to low, our blood pressure to go high, heart rate to skyrocket (tachycardia) or to drop (bradycardia), increase kidney stones and poor circulation because our heart and vessels are stressed beyond the body’s way to maintain balance on its own.. There is a common factor, among the many different factors that cause illnesses and diseases.  I believe stress is a common factor in rare conditions and common health conditions  (i.e. diabetes, heart disease, fibromyalgia, and different blood disorders), and it is not so much stress as it is ineffective coping or not properly dealing with stress.   In essence,  it is easy to see why not forgiving yourself and others, and holding on to negative emotions and feelings are forms of self sabotage.  We are doing harm to ourselves than we think or led to believe.

Whatever is your story, you always have a choice to be a victim or use your story to positively transform your life and the life of others.  Many have taken the path of healing and being a light in someone’s darkness.
