Michael Clarke Duncan-Redemption Road and The Power of Forgiveness

I believe that things happen for a reason, and there is perfect timing in our experiences. There is so much gratitude when you realize what is happening and that you are in the mist of it..I decided to rent the movie “Redemption Road”, directed by Mario Van Peebles, this weekend.

My husband and I finally decided to watch it today, and low and behold, my son decided to take his nap at the same time. The movie was like none other that I had seen, and Michael Clarke Duncan played the part very well. I will not tell you specific parts about the movie, because I want you to experience it for yourself. I can tell you that I was touched by the messages such as the power of forgiveness, letting go, and facing our “inner demons” in order to really live life—-to make the best of our “God-given talents.” It saddens me when so many people have lost their life or decide not to use their “God-given talents” whether it be an artist, a singer, and/or a dancer. Many people can tell that they are gifted, but the gift is someone not shared with the world. You see so many people with extremely beautiful gifts, and many times they do not believe that it is how they can live their life doing what they love. I am not judging…..It is your life.

It has been mentioned several times that forgiveness is truly for you and not so much about the other person. If we are to grow and be the best that we can be, we cannot hold on to the weight of unforgiven issues. In the race of life, it can slow you down. We have to let go. The person you forgive maybe the one who helps to set you free, or maybe not.

If you feel that your life is going nowhere no matter how hard you are trying, you may want to ask yourself….Is there someone I need to forgive?

Watch the movie if you have not. I do not think you will be disappointed. Rest in Peace..Michael Clarke Duncan.

Until next time,
Timika Chambers
