Boundaries and Vision: Protecting Your Inner Sanctuary

Plus, I am sharing my radio interview with 95.9 KTIL/Tillamook Today!

Hi there,

I hope all is well with you and yours!

The inner and outer foundations help us preserve and protect our inner sanctuary. The inner foundation are the beliefs that we hold about life, others, and ourselves. The outer foundation is our conscious mind. It is influenced by what we watch on television, the people we associate ourselves with, the songs we listen to, the books we read, where we live, etc.

“Over time, our inner and outer foundation can weaken as a result of weed infiltration and storms–those extended life experiences that can attract weeds (persistent negative emotions), such as anger, anxiety, confusion, fatigue, and depression.

The inner storms are the accumulation of anger, anxiety, confusion, fatigue, and sadness, which in turn can lead to depressive states, extreme anxiety attacks (e.g., panic attacks), and extreme sadness (e.g., depressive states). Our perception of outer storms (e.g., pandemics such as COVID-19) can also add to these states. During storms, we can get so caught up in them that we forget about our garden and the walls that portect and preserve who we are.

As a result of these storms, we can begin to question or existence and life’s meaning and purpose. We can become so caught up in what we are hearing, seeing, and experiencing that we forget the powerful being that we are.

We are not here to be victims of our experiences. We are here to transcend our experiences–guilt free. We learn. We grow. We remember who we are.

Storms can be a challenging opportunity to revisit our vision in life. Often, as a child, there was something we loved or wanted to do but may have gotten detoured via traditional beliefs and other opinions, including sterotypes.

The boundaries we set protects and preserves us as we move grow into who we are. This is where life principles come into play. Life-giving principles keep us rooted in our truths. We know what we stand for and therefore we remain steadfast in our purpose. We center ourselves on truths and therefore are able to calm the inner storms.

Vision Before Assessing Your Boundaries

When was the last time you sat still and aligned with the innate blueprint—the one our Creator put inside as it handcrafted you to perfection.

This week, I encourage you to grab a notebook/sheet of paper and something to write and spend some quality quiet time with yourself. Consider these questions: “What is my life’s purpose?” “What did I like to do as a child?” “Am I doing work that is nourishing (e.g., joy, peace, challenging me to grow brighter and stronger) me from the inside out?”

Let your hands guide you as your vision unfolds on paper.

The truth has no time limit or time restriction. It knows the right time to reveal itself to you.

If you do not receive an immediate answer, you can go on about your day and do something else. Often, the answer comes when we least expect it.

Everything you are and do come from your thoughts; we are our beliefs turned inside out.

When was the last time, you assessed your foundations? What beliefs are leading you to do what you do? How is your external environment supporting or not supporting your vision?

Our body is always sending us signs and symptoms. How we respond to life events tell us a lot about our inner foundation. During your alone time, I encourage you to ask these questions which are good for assessing our inner foundation and if it needs rebuiling.

Just two questions this week to consider….

  1. What do I believe about food, physical activity, and rest? What you eat, how much, how little, where, how often, and why stem from what you believe about yourself.
  2. How is what I am watching on television/at the movies, the music I listen to, conversations, and environments supporting my vision?

We cannot change what we are not aware of. Everything comes back to “the person in the mirror.”

Thanks for reading and feel free to share your insights.

P.S. KTIL/Tillamook Today radio interviewed me on June 30th. We discussed emotional healing after COVID-19 and resurfacing our divine purpose.
