Healing from the Inside Out Series #40: You Can’t Change Grown Folks

But You Can Still Heal from the Inside Out

Hi there!

It’s tempting to want to change people—to mold them into the expectations we hold, especially when we believe their behavior will help us heal. But healing is a choice, and it does not have to depend on others apologizing for their actions or inactions. Freedom is something we choose for ourselves, from within, without waiting for anyone else to make it possible.

In today’s heartfelt episode of the Healing from the Inside series, from the Create a Generational Love Cycle podcast, I explore the profound connection between our divine essence, our life principles, and the healing that begins within. Together, these elements form a powerful cycle of love that can flow across generations.

I reflect on one of the life lessons I learned from my mother, “You Can’t Change Grown Folks,” a principle also shared in my recently published book, The Inner Garden. This wisdom continues to shape how we break patterns, cultivate love, and create the legacy our families deserve.

Key takeaways

  1. The core of healing is recognizing and maintaining your divine essence in the face of life’s challenges

Understanding this shifts the focus from external circumstances to internal stewardship, empowering proactive healing. Reconnecting with your divine core, especially during emotional upheavals, is crucial.

  1. Perception shapes emotional and spiritual health more than external reality

Shifting perception from blame or victimhood toward learning and growth can prevent emotional wounds from becoming generational cycles. Transforming pain into healing and resilience is key.

  1. You cannot force change on others; authentic transformation must come from within

Focusing on cultivating your own inner harmony creates a more conducive environment for genuine change in others. Letting go of control frees you to heal your own inner garden.

  1. The seeds we nourish within determine our collective health and future generations

Intentional self-awareness about what we cultivate impacts not just our well-being but also shapes the next generation’s worldview. Choosing virtues like compassion and forgiveness fosters generational love.

  1. Emotional and spiritual health are directly linked to physical well-being and resilience

As always, make this lifetime great because the power to do so resides within you.
