Weekend cooking

Hey all! I hope everyone is having a great #weekend! So, for the past several months, I have been trying to get the #kids to cook/bake something on the weekend. They love #cooking and come to the table prepared😀👋….We have made cakes, pizzas, wraps, sandwiches, and quesadillas….and others.

I used to be a big fan of peanut butter cookies…Yesterday, I made homemade almond butter, and we made some almond butter cookies. See the picture below…the cookies turned out very nice looking, and everyone loved them. I thought they were okay.. I will definitely try to make some #homemade peanut butter and some peanut butter cookies. I forgot to take a picture before everyone attacked the almond cookies and managed to get at least half a cookie🤪💪.

I chose almonds instead of peanuts because of almonds being a great source of monounsaturated oils. #Almonds have been shown to lower #cholesterol and are highly favored in #Ayurvedic ( Indian) medicine. I have had an interest in complimentary medicine for a long time. I believe that when you give your body the right nutrition, you increase your body’s chance of healing.

Today, I made some hummus for the first time, and the hummus turned out good. Ever since I saw Guy Fieri make some on #Food Network, I wanted to give it a try. We had some store bought hummus to compare the taste of both…

For next weekend, we will make some healthy homemade pretzels….

We are the food we eat…literally, and we can creatively make healthier versions of our favorite foods….We are worth it!

What healthier versions of your favorite food have you tried?

To Your Best Health!
