The Seeds We Plant Series #31: Fuel for the Body.

Hi there!

Nourishment for the body comes in many forms, including food and drinks, meditation, quality sleep, prayer, physical activity, self-talk, and others. With so much to do, it’s so easy to feel like we don’t have enough time to care for our bodies (the vehicles for our divine message).

Regardless of what we believe about time, our bodies will let us know when rest is needed and when we need to choose better nourishment for our bodies. But we don’t have to wait for our vehicles to break down or receive a preventative health diagnosis. We can prioritize caring for ourselves and intentionally choose life-giving activities instead of life-draining ones.

Every day is a work in progress, and we must believe that the healthy seeds we sew today will bring a wonderful harvest. Some of the activities I intentionally do for my family and myself include:

  1. Developing a weekly or monthly meal plan. I have specific days for omega-3 foods, grains, no eggs, beans, and healthy substitutions. I include fruits and vegetables, especially green ones, for every meal and sometimes snacks.
  2. Discussing balance, moderation, and food properties with my children, including my eat some now, save some for a later mantra I borrowed from one of my favorite childhood candies, now and later.
  3. Keeping a routine bedtime and awake time. The more we stick to our schedules and aim for quality sleep, the more we help our bodies do what they are here to do”Š”””Š-help us fulfill our divine purpose.
  4. Making time for activities, playtime, and walking. Walking in nature is one of the best activities one can do to clear the mind and move the body at the same time.
  5. Praying with our children several times a day. We talk about purpose, and I make time for them to do the activities they love.
