Rob Peace: Illuminating a spoke in the generational cycle of pain.

This past Saturday, I asked my husband if he wanted to watch a movie with me. As I sat snuggled on the couch with a blanket, my husband asked me what I wanted to watch. I responded with “something with action and drama.” However, I observed as the thought of a documentary crossed my mind. I love true stories, especially of those who overcame odds (e.g., health conditions, abuse/neglect, anxiety, depression, societal expectations, etc.) to do the work they are here to do.
As my husband flipped through the list of movies, we came across something that had sparked my interest several weeks ago. I wasn’t sure it was going to be a good movie, nor did I know it was based on a true story. Nevertheless, it was a clip of a man in a courtroom with a desperate, agonizing look as he explained to the judge that he could not go to jail. He couldn’t leave his son. The man was accused of murder, yet he maintained his innocence throughout the movie.
Overall, the movie was captivating, heart gripping, and confirmed the need to help people break the generational cycle of pain. Without telling too much of the story, Rob Peace brought out significant concepts underlying the generational cycle of pain.
- Out of wanting better for our children, we may not share certain truths that could help break the cycle of pain. Often, children are left to wonder, doubt, or even question the situation, leaving them more confused and feeling helpless, even when they are older.
- Children often take on the burden of a parent’s unsuccessful endeavors, causing more guilt and pressure, sometimes creating another spoke in the cycle of pain. They feel like they cannot move forward if their parent or parents aren’t.
- Children often fall back on what they know. Often, childhood experiences provide the mirror from which they see and, therefore, experience the world, including limitations. They may see the only solution to something is what they are used to or what their parents did. What may seem to bring success to another becomes an untapped door for them to explore.
- Genius or greatness doesn’t always lead to an abundant life. It’s how you utilize your abilities, experiences, gifts, and talents.
- Abilities, gifts, and natural talents can be used for good or for evil.
- Patterns of behaviors can be difficult to break, especially if the stress is high or there are no healthy coping mechanisms in place.
- Parents can often rely on children to be their saviors, adding to more pressure on the child.
- Children look to their parents to show them how to navigate life and often hold them in high esteem, regardless of who they are or what they do.
- Unequal treatment amongst races can enable the cycle of pain. If they don’t tell on you, they won’t tell on me, and if they don’t catch you, they won’t catch me.
- Children have their mission on earth. The main character had unique gifts, talents, and desires, unlike anyone in his family. This is what the father relied on.
- Many people are dying with their abilities, gifts, and talents without fully expressing them.
- One lie can have devastating consequences.
The generational cycle of pain is real. However, we can break the cycle of pain with a series of steps, starting with acknowledging that it exists and doing what we can to help one another. Speaking the truth is a critical tool in breaking the cycle of pain. Everyone has their unique abilities, gifts, and talents to help make the world a better place.
If you haven’t seen Rob Peace, I encourage you to see it. I believe it is a true eye-opener to the cycle of pain. Through my literary works, I not only want to increase spiritual awareness but also help you align with the highest version of yourself to do the divine work you are here to do by exposing the pain and opening your heart to your truths. I know that inner healing is essential to fulfilling our divine purpose. And part of our life’s work is helping people to realize theirs.
