The Seeds We Plant Series #36: Be Your Best Friend First.

Hi there!

I hope all is well with you and yours!

It’s common to treat others better than we treat ourselves. We speak positive words to them while we sometimes bash ourselves. We may encourage them to eat healthy, get plenty of rest, and increase their activity while we splurge on ice cream, eat large meals, or frequently purchase fast food. In addition, we may stay up all night worrying about life issues, watching television, or working on a project and rarely achieve 10 minutes of consistent activity.

But this post is not about inconsistency in heart and mind. It’s about becoming our best friends, caring enough about ourselves, and incorporating the necessary activities to optimize our health. The light we shine on others, we must first shine on ourselves.

Are you your best friend? Do you encourage your loved ones to be their best friend? Do you encourage your children to accept and love themselves first?

Being our best friend is one critical way to break the cycle of pain.

I share how one of my mother’s words of wisdom from my book, The Inner Garden, can help us lessen the “weeds”—the persistent negative emotions that can taint our purpose.Takeaways1. Storms are an opportunity to gain clarity about our experiences. We can choose to see them from a healthier, more grounded perspective.2. Persistent negative habits can slowly work against us from the inside out. An inner decline often begins long before anything becomes visible on the outside.3. Whatever remains in the dark will eventually come to light. We have both the power and the divine right to correct our persistent patterns of thinking and behavior. For continued support in cultivating harmony, health, and peace, check out my eBook: The Inner Garden 53 Life Principles Rooted in a Mother's Wisdom for Cultivating Harmony, Health, and Inner Peace.
